Edelrid's Giga Jul belay device is particularly light and at the same time very robust and abrasion-resistant thanks to its hybrid construction of aluminium and steel. By moving the green switching mechanism, the Giga Jul can switch between an assisted and manual braking device, which is particularly useful in alpine climbing for setting up a belay or rappelling.
